Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran is one of ABC’s original Shark Tank investors. To date she has appeared in every seasons of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February of 2020. Her biggest deal was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children in a working class Irish-Catholic family. Florence was her mother, who was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly moving between jobs and the next throughout Corcoran's youth. In times, her family relied on deliveries of free food from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran still remembers her father as someone who drank often and did not treat her mother with respect. Corcoran was a struggle in school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated in an Catholic elementary and then started high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. After failing several classes during her freshman year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School in Leonia, where she was a D-student when she graduated.
